Previous versions of Painter I'm told are actually more stable on Mac than Windows. Although the interface has changed, Painter 11 is selling for 70 bucks on Amazon. It's basically a Splash page that says "Academic/Educational" and the EULA says this is not for commercial use (ie don't sell commissions). There is no fundamental difference between the retail and Academic/Educational copy. I still use Painter the most (not the stripped down version) the retail version of Painter 12 is about $260 on Amazon, but if you like learning and aren't going into commissions soon, get the Academic version for about $90. FREE is good in this case.Ĭommercial Software that costs $$ for the budget conscious:ġ. I'm going with the programs first, the ones after this are free so go get them anyways. As I said previously Corel Painter ESSENTIALS is a very stripped down version of Corel Painter, which is kinda like thinking Photoshop Elements is the same as CS4
